To be quite honest, I do not truly budget. On a consistent basis anyway. I have had a few survival seasons where I stuck to budget by force, not choice. But truth be told, when I have it, if it's mine, I spend it!🎶 (Cc: @2chainz)
Budgeting for me is like dieting. I can type out a doc/note and mentally assure myself that I will stick to the plan this go around, but it seldom happens consistently. I function on a season by season basis. Yet and still, I will share methods & modes of operation when I plan a “random” trip.
The Foladora M.O= Flight. Lodging. Food.
Step 1: Hit up Google Flights on an Incognito tab (otherwise the prices will keep creeping up everytime you search. Thanks Cookies🙄). Hit the reset button on the calendar to see all the prices on each day of flying out. I also compare Google Flights prices with the prices on the @Hopper app.
Step 2: Hit up the @airbnb app or Booking.com website. On Airbnb, I set filters for the dates of trip, cap the max amount at 100 dollars usd per night (cuz I'm ballin but ballin on a budget). I also only use Superhosts verified by Airbnb for the sake of security, safety, and cleanliness confirmed by detailed reviews from visitors.
Step 3: Search @Facebook travel groups for ideas on what to explore on your travel itinerary. I tend to stick with “black~ish” travel groups on FB, esp with food, because my taste buds are bourgeois and seasoned (thanks to being reared on TX/Louisiana/Nigeria based cuisines). As a foodie, I will narrow my travel destination choices based on food alone🤣
Bonus: As you countdown til Liftoff, skip the brunches and outings 4 weeks out from a big trip. And get your travel toiletries and technology in order!
Budgeting is important and adulting is real. But don't guilt yourself out of traveling because you may not be organized or strict to budget as others. Y.O.L.O.
